What this site is
FrostDepthCheck publishes estimates of frost penetration depth worked out from NOAA climate normals. It is informational. It is not the frost line depth adopted by your jurisdiction, a soil report, or a structural or geotechnical design.
The code value governs
Footing depth is set by your local building department under the code it has adopted. Where its frost line depth is deeper than the figure here, its value applies. Confirm it before you dig, pour, or buy materials.
No warranty on the figures
Each estimate assumes one soil, snow cover, and the climate of the nearest NOAA station. Real ground freezes deeper under plowed driveways, in wet silts, in a colder-than-normal winter, and at stations far from your site. No figure here is guaranteed to match any particular lot, and none should be the sole basis for a construction decision.
